Welcome to Bitsculptor's Workshop

Have you ever wondered why is it so hard to get into the Video-game Industry?

Well.. most probably it's not about special skills, unless you consider drinking the world out of coffee a specialty.

To be honest, the hardest part of this stuff (and for why the AAA companies do prefer candidates with university degree (of any type) over others) is the proof that shows them (and you), that you can actually start and finish whatever work you have at your hands.

No matter whether you like it or not, whether you feel like doing it or not... you have to push yourself against it, to the very limits in order to be able to deliver the expected stuff in time. Even I, as a "weekend" developer had to face it several times, how it feels, when you have someone you have trusted a certain task on, and they fail to do it, or even fail to report their failure in completion before deadline, causing more trouble then just simply say:

-Sorry mate, I ain't do it.

For the Game-Industry it applies pretty much, once you are in, you are NOT allowed to get out until it's not done.

No skills will replace the ability of can-do / will-do attitude, and these companies are not going to nurse you only

to see how you fail because of your lack of endurance / lack of positive mindset about working.

To be honest, it was very very very hard times for me to be able to push myself up against the wall even when I wanted to lie down.

The momentum which everyone have on starting a new game- project lasts only as long as the first few obstacles show up.

Then comes pain, searching for a work-around, experimenting and recalculating the GPS coordinates of the goal in this virtual space of entertainment-torture duality... the goal is becoming more and more obscured and slowly fades into the fog of endless coding overnight / troubleshooting on the next morning...

 ..But I didn't give up!

Lucky I had a lot of coffee and chips that have preserved my body to the times when I can reap victory and success, when I can taste the fruit of my own plantation... Even if it's not an AAA game... not even close to one...

The project was named after the feeling I had while working on it:

MAROONED
